Most shops in Germany offer customers three shopping bags of plastic, canvas and cotton. In Germany, plastic bags are environmentally friendly and biodegradable. Plastic bags range from 7 cents to 74 cents, depending on the size of shopping bags, and canvas and cotton bags cost about $1.47. Major supermarket chains in the UK currently offer both free plastic bags and reusable shopping bags at prices ranging from 10p to 20p. TESCO, a big supermarket chain, is encouraging customers to avoid plastic bags or reuse shopping bags by rewarding them with bonus points.
