China helped dispose of 60-70% of the world's waste in the previous 20 years, news.com.cn reported. At its peak, China can help dispose of nearly 30 percent of Australia's waste, while India can accept about 10 percent.

As a result, Australia believes that the ultimate solution to the problem of waste accumulation lies overseas. Australian waste companies are now looking for buyers from Malaysia, Indonesia, the Philippines and Vietnam to help dispose of the waste piled up in the country.

But in a news 60 documentary, a Malaysian waste-treatment plant manager says of the Australian trash arriving, "please take them back." Malaysia and Thailand have already said they want to ban garbage imports by 2021.
